We held our Annual Meeting in January and, as a change to our usual venue, we held
the meeting at a local restaurant and this encouraged more people to attend as we
combined it with a social get-together.
The meeting was led by Amy Ferrell in the
absence of Meryl Fell and, after the opening
prayer in English by Bob Griffiths and in Welsh
by David Rees, the officers of the Board
presented to members and guests the business
of the Society. The Nomination Committee
announced the new Board for 2012.
Tributes were made to those who had passed
away in the preceding year and an eulogy for
Florence Williams was given by Rhianon Hardy.
David Rees reported on our St David's Day Banquet which will be held on March 1,
2012 explaining the meal choices and that we will be entertained by the Madrigal
Singers from Riverview High School, Sarasota. Don Hughes gave an account of the
National Festival in Cleveland last year and informed us that this year the venue
will be Scranton, Pennsylvania around Labor Day.
Bob Penry played the guitar and the afternoon ended in
Welsh song conducted by Don Hughes. The event was
deemed a great success with new friends being made
and proved a wonderful start to 2012 as we look
forward to the many more events our Society has
planned for the coming year.
