A Testament to the Life of Ernest Rees
The Gulf Coast St David's Welsh Society, Sarasota wishes to join you in celebration of
the life of Ernest Rees.
It is always a sad and poignant time when you lose someone suddenly, without
warning, and without the chance to say our goodbyes to what is inevitable to each
and every oneof us.
Ernie's life is a testament to us all with his unwavering love of Wales. Even having left
many years ago he remained close to his roots all his life, ensuring his family and
future generations would grow up knowing where they "belonged".
A talented man, he worked quietly for our Society sculpting the large dragons that
greetus at our Banquet as well as the decorations that adorn our tablets - the flags
remindingus of the special bond between our two Countries. These will not only
serve as aconstant reminder of a dear friend, but ensure Ernie's presence at many
future events.
Ernie's passing will leave a great void in our Society but I'm sure, on the odd occasion
when we cast our eyes up to the heavens, we will spot a dragon in the clouds and will
undoubtedly know that Ernie's hand is still at work.
So, on behalf of the Sarasota Welsh Society and the people of Wales, God Bless you
Ernie and Thank You for being such an incredible part of our lives.
Meryl, President
(on Behalf of the Gulf Coast St David
's Welsh Society, Sarasota)
                                                  Avanwy Adams (August 2, 2012)
Avanwy was a past president of the Society and a wise, witty and wonderful
inspiration to all who knew her.
"A BRIGHT STAR has dimmed over Wales! I and all of us are so saddened at the loss
of such a great and good friend. Avanwy cheered us all always..and helped us grow
the Sarasota Welsh Society around her.
Thank you for letting us know...and condolences to all or your family from your
Sarasota Friends."
