Elined Prys, Peace Delegate: Her Life and Legacy. October 3 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Many of you will remember learning about the Welsh Women's Peace Petition signed by 400,000 Welsh women. In 1924 the petition was brought by delegates from Wales to the United States. They met with President Calvin Coolidge, a Vermont native of Welsh lineage, trying to influence the US to join the League of Nationa. Attached is information about the Peace Petition in a zoom event on Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m. Central Eastern Time on Zoom. ANNUAL FAMILY PICNIC: Mark your calendar for Sunday, October 19th from 12:30 to 4:30 at Urfer Family Park's pavilion, 4012 Honore Avenue at the southwest corner of Bee Ridge Rd. in Sarasota, Florida. There will be ample parking, convenient restrooms, grills, a playground, hiking trail and ballfields, so all ages will enjoy this location. We look forward to seeing you! Friends are always welcome.
This North American tradition began in 1929 when over 4,000 people gathered at Niagara Falls for the first National Gymanfa Ganu. It became the largest gathering of the Welsh, descendants, and friends in North America. The festival is held in a different location each year, in either the U.S. or Canada, and celebrated over the shared Labor Day holiday weekend. Prepare yourself for four full days of song, merriment, and camaraderie with old and new friends, celebrating the life, heritage, and culture of Wales.
